DisplayPort 1.4 VS DisplayPort 2.0 Guide

These were some of the differences between the features of the two DisplayPorts – DisplayPort 1.4 and DisplayPort 2.0.

DisplayPort 2.0 triples the maximum bandwidth to 80Gbps compared to the 32.4Gbps of DisplayPort 1.4.

DisplayPort 1.4 transmits 8.1 Gbps over 4 lanes, while DisplayPort 2.0 introduces three different bit rates of resolutions over the same 4 lanes: 10Gbps, 13.5Gbps, and 20Gbps.

    4K and 8K UHD Displays

Resolution: 4K is 4 times Full HD with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (TV) or 4096 x 2160 pixels (cinema), while 8K is 16 times Full HD at 7680 x 4320 pixels for both TV and cinema.

Frame Rate: 4K runs at 50-60 frames per second (fps), while 8K offers a smoother experience at 120 fps.

Audio Channel: 4K supports 5.1 audio channels, whereas 8K elevates audio with 22.2 channels for a more immersive sound.

Viewing Angle: 4K has a 55-degree viewing angle, whereas 8K widens it to 100 degrees, allowing for closer and more extreme viewing without pixelation.
